, New York - Warga Amerika Serikat (AS) ternyata suka berkunjung ke perpustakaan ketimbang menonton film ke bioskop. Berdasarkan survei Gallup pada 2019, pergi ke perpustakaan adalah aktivitas waktu luang nomor satu di negara AS.

Perpustakaan yang paling terkenal di AS mungkin adalah New York Public Library. Totalnya ada 55 juta koleksi buku, e-book, dan DVD di perpustakaan yang tersebar di 92 lokasi ini.

Tiap tahunnya New York Public Library melayani 17 juta orang. Terkadang, ada novelis yang menulis karyanya di perpustakaan New York, misalnya Donna Tartt ketika menulis The Goldfinch yang meraih Penghargaan Pulitzer.
